Explanation of Solution

Hormones are released into the extracellular spaces by the endocrine glands and enter the nearby capillaries through which they travel across the body and target specific organs that are situated at a distant location.

Hormones circulate in the entire body within the blood. These secretions exit the bloodstream and come in contact with majority of tissues of the body. However, they only exert their effect on specific target cells. The target cells contain receptors to which the molecules of hormones bind which is then followed by certain changes in the target cells.
