Question
Chapter 1.7, Problem 17ATS
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation: The electron configuration of silicon atom should be identified.
Concept Introduction: A particle of matter that exclusively defines a chemical element is said to be an atom. It consists a central nucleus where protons and neutrons are present whereas nucleus is surrounded by one or more electrons are always moving that is, they possess kinetic energy. The lowest possible energy level of an electron in an atom is its ground state.
The arrangement of electrons around the nucleus of an atom is done by an increasing order of energy levels and this description of orbitals of atom occupied by electrons is known as electronic configuration.
