The thyroid gland is found in the anterior part of the neck. It is responsible to secrete two major hormones, namely the thyroid hormone and calcitonin. It is a butterfly-shaped organ with left and right lobes, which are connected by the isthmus. The thyroid gland is composed of small thyroid follicles.
