Both contusion and concussion are life threatening conditions. The differences between concussion and contusion are given as follows:
Contusion | Concussion |
Contusion is a kind of bruise that occurs as an extravasation of blood under the skin layer. | Concussion occurs as the result of trauma or injury in the head. |
It occurs anywhere in the body and it is painful. | A temporary consciousness and violent blowing to the head causes concussion and occurs only when the head is injured. |
It is a localized lesion and increases the risk of embolism and thrombosis. | It is the kind of brain trauma in which large area of the brain is injured. |
