During this condition, the beta cells of the pancreas produce little or no insulin. Diabetes mellitus are classified into type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes. Type 1 diabetes (insulin-dependent diabetes or juvenile diabetes) is the condition in which the insulin is not produced by the body due to the destruction of beta cells of the pancreas.
