The reason why scheduling is simple for repetitive system and complex for job shops is as follows:
In job shop scheduling, jobs should follow different kind of paths which would contain different processing times. The processing requirements would be available in wide range in job shop. In job shop scheduling, the scheduler should compete with rush order, specification changes, and variety in job. Hence, scheduling is complex for job shops.
The degree of uniformity high in the continuous systems would be high, which would make scheduling simple for the repetitive systems.
