Interpretation: Amongst the given metals, the metal that does not dissolve in hydrochloric acid is to be identified.
Concept Introduction:
In activity series, metals are arranged in order of decreasing tendency to lose electrons. The metals at the top of the series are the most reactive metals because they have the greatest tendency to lose their electrons. They can be easily oxidized. On the other hand, metals at the bottom of the series are the least reactive because they have the lowest tendency to lose their electrons. Thus, they are the most difficult to oxidize.
Metals that lie above hydrogen are more reactive than hydrogen while metals that lie below hydrogen are less reactive than hydrogen.
