To describe: The four pathways of sympathetic neurons.
Concept introduction: The sympathetic preganglionic neuron cell bodies are housed in the lateral horn (T1-L2 portion) of the spinal cord. Preganglionic axons approximately possess more than 20 branches. The sympathetic axons (preganglionic) remain for a short time in the spinal nerve before they get branched off. There are four pathways of sympathetic neurons, namely spinal nerve pathway, postganglionic sympathetic nerve pathway, splanchnic nerve pathway, and adrenal medulla pathway.
