Introduction:

Mendel chose Pisum sativum, the garden pea, to study the natural laws that control inheritance. Mendel postulated that every individual carries two genes for a given character and that the gene for each character in a pea plant exists in two variant forms, which are called as alleles. The term dominant describes the displayed trait, whereas the term recessive describes a trait that is marked by the presence of a dominant trait.
