The conditions on early Earth were very harsh. The atmosphere contained gases such as methane, ammonia, hydrogen and water. There was no oxygen present in the atmosphere. There was no ozone layer in the atmosphere that could prevent the harmful radiations from the Sun to reach the Earth’s surface.
