Concept Introduction:

A combination of light nuclei to form a heavier nuclei and emission of a large amount of energy is called a fusion reaction. Normally, a fission reaction is required for a fusion reaction because high temperature and pressure needed to initiate the fusion. The temperature required to initiate fusion reaction is called ignition temperature. The most common nuclei in a fusion reaction is hydrogen nuclei and its cheapest source is water.
