Chapter 15, Problem 22SAE
Summary Introduction
To review:
The ions secreted and/or reabsorbed by the kidneys when blood pH rises and how the blood pH is kept within the normal range
Introduction:
pH is a measure of the hydrogen ion concentration. It is used to specify the acidity or basicity of the solution. The normal blood pH of a healthy individual lies in the range of 7.35-7.45. The human body has various mechanisms for maintaining its pH. One of the mechanisms involves the kidneys which secrete ions when the blood pH rises and work to keep the pH within the range.
