Introduction:

Marshall did a self-experiment to demonstrate that acute gastritis can be caused by Helicobacter pylori bacteria which can also cause ulcers. Before conducting the experiment, Dr. Marshall did not take the permission from the ethical commission. Marshall treated the gastritis problem with antibiotics instead of antidepressants, psychotherapy or tranquilizers and with no doubt he generated impressive results. Due to the absence of animals for carrying out the test, he took use of his own body.
