Big Data Problem:

• Over the last years, a new wave of data emerged which is characterised for being high volume, high frequency, and mostly semi-structured.
• These data came from multiple sources such as web site logs, web site posts, and machine generated information.
• But these data contains a lot of hidden information that help the day-to-day business.
• The need to manage this data resulted in a phenomenon called Big Data.
• Big data refers to the vast amount of data which cannot be processed and analysed when traditional computer technologies and tools are applied.
• Big data provides high performance and scalability at a reasonable cost.
• The main characteristics of big data phenomenon are Volume, Variety and Velocity of data
• These three characteristics have been defined as the three Vs.
• Volume refers to the amount of data, variety refers to the number of types of data, and velocity refers to the speed of data processing.
