Concept introduction: Increased intracranial pressure (ICP) is a rise in the pressure around the brain. This can occur as a consequence of infection, complication of surgery, or increase in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain. Increased intracranial pressure is a life- threatening condition that may result in brain injury.
