Chapter 14, Problem 1P
Define each of the following terms:
a. Factor
b. Level
c. Two-factor study
Expert Solution & Answer
To determine
Definitions of each of the following terms:
- Factor
- Level
- 2 factor study
Explanation of Solution
- Factor: The factor is an independent variable and is an explanatory variable that is manipulated by the experimenter. It designates the group being compared.
- Each factor has 2 more levels. Combination of different levels of factors make treatments.
- 2 factorstudies have 2 explanatory variables which the researcher is trying to study. Each factor may have different levels 2 or 3 each. That leads to 2 way Analysis of Variance. Each main effect, interaction between 2 factors, residual error and total variance can be studied in ANOVA and F tests are conducted to find its significance.
