To explain: The reason why the diagnosis in the early stage of Alzheimer’s disease is difficult.

Concept introduction: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurological disorder. It is a progressive disease characterized by cerebral atrophy that destroys the brain cells and leads to memory loss and cognitive decline. It results in the degeneration of the cerebral cortex and widening of the cerebral sulci in the temporal and frontal regions. The microscopic observation shows degeneration of neurofibrillary tangles and the neurons result in senile plaques in the cerebral cortex.
