The complement system is generally an enzyme cascade. It is a collection of blood as well as cell surface proteins that assist the abilities of different types of antibodies to clear the pathogens from an organism. The complement system comprises nearly 30 different types of proteins, which include serosal proteins, serum proteins, and the cell membrane receptors.
