Explanation The structure and function of lymphatic vessels: Almost all the tissues and organs present in the body contain lymphatic capillaries. Within these tissues, the lymphatic capillaries are found to be closely linked with blood capillaries. The lymphatic network starts with the lymphatic capillaries. Lymph is a fluid flowing through the lymphatic system. The interstitial fluid becomes lymph when it flows into lymphatic capillaries. The lymph from the peripheral tissues is transported to the venous system through lymphatic vessels. The endothelial cells line the lymphatic capillaries and the basement membrane is either missing entirely or it is incomplete. The epithelial cells overlap, and the overlapping region serves as a one-way valve. This allows the entry of solutes (including proteins), fluids, cellular debris, bacteria, and viruses but prevent the return of these substances and microbes to the intercellular spaces...
