Summary Introduction

Introduction: Nucleic acids are polymers of nucleotide units. Digestion of nucleic acids takes place in the small intestine by the deoxyribonuclease and ribonuclease which is synthesized and released by the pancreas. Both enzymes are involved in breaking the bond between the individual nucleotides of DNA and RNA, respectively to yield nucleotides (deoxyribonucleotides in DNA and ribonucleotides in RNA).
