What is the device that consists of two unlike metal strips that are attached and have a different rate of expansion and contraction?
A. Thermistor
B. Thermocouple
C. Diaphragm
D. Bimetal

The device that consists of two unlike metal strips that are attached and have a different rate of expansion and contraction.
Explanation of Solution
Bimetal is referred to an object which is comprised of two separate or different metals joined together with each other. It consists of different metal layers. A bimetal object is usually made up of iron and brass. Its working is based on the theory that a metal is contacted by the effect of cooling and expands by the effect of heating. The length of bimetal increases as there is an increase in the temperature. It consists of two different strips which are having unlike coefficient of thermal expansion.
A thermocouple is considered as an electrical device which constitutes of two different conductors forming junctions at different temperature.
A thermistor is a resistor whose resistivity is temperature dependent.
Thus, the device that consists of two unlike metal strips which are attached ad have a different rate of contraction and expansion is called as a bimetal.
Therefore, the correct option is (D).
