Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) architecture:

• The components of OLAP client/server architecture are as follows
  • OLAP Graphical User Interface (GUI) which is used for establishing communication between the end user and the computer system.
  • OLAP Analytical Processing Logic (APL) is required for performing difficult transactions between the client and the server.
  • OLAP Data Processing Logic (DPL) is used for performing data analysis in the data warehouse.

Data Mart:

• Data mart is the subset of the data warehouse that focuses on the particular subject.
• It is modified for decision making application and restricted in scope.
• Performance for well-defined uses is optimized using the single or couple of queries.
• Data mart optimizes the performance for well-defined uses as a single or couple queries.
