Chapter 13, Problem 13.77SP
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

Order of the reaction and value of rate constant for the consumption of NOBr is needed to be determined.

Concept Introduction:

Chemical reactions are carried out to a given reaction rate, the main concern of chemical kinetics field. The reaction kinetics mainly depends of reactive system properties such as temperature, reagents concentrations and reaction order (which depends of the kind of chemical reaction, if it’s an elementary o non-elementary reaction, catalysed or non-catalysed, among others). It’s possible to express the relationship between temperature, reagents concentrations and reaction orders in a proportionality equation well-known as The Rate Law:

  rA=-1νAd[A]dt=k[A]n[B]m [1]
Where vA is the stoichiometry coefficient of A reagent; [A], [B]the concentration of reagents; n and m correspond to kinetic orders and finally k is a kinetic constant that mainly depends from the reaction temperature. All these parameters must be determined by the experimental monitoring of chemical reactions.
