II. Find the unknown in' the following problems. Graph the
equation and label its parts.
1. Find the area of a circle defined by x²+ y? + 14x – 20y + 3 = 0.
3. Find the dimension of the largest rectangle (in terms of area) that can be inscribed in a
circle of radius V2 cm.
4. Find the point on the line y = 2x – 1 that is closest to the origin.

21. Two lines intersect each other in a circular plane with an equation x2 + y2 + 4x – 6y = 12. These lines exactly intersect at the center of the circle and forms a region which looks like a pie slice called a sector. Line 1 and 2 have y-intercepts of 9 and 4, respectively. Determine the area of the sector formed by the intersection of said lines.
(Note: The area of the sector is calculated as AA = θθ360°ππrr2, where θ is the angle between the intersecting lines in degrees)

- Refer to Figure 29-9 to determine the values in the table. Allowance is equal to the maximum interference. All dimensions are in millimetersarrow_forwardThe surface of a soccer ball is composed of 12 regular pentagons and 20 regular hexagons. With each side of each regular polygon measuring 4.5 cm, the area of each regular pentagon is 34.9 cm2 and area of each regular hexagon is 52.5 cm2. a What is the surface area of the soccer ball? b If the material used to construct the ball costs 0.8 of a cent per square centimeter, what is the cost of the materials used in construction?arrow_forward2. A trough, full of water, is 1m long and its cross section is a triangle which is 3m high and 2m wide across the top. The water is sliced horizontally into (rectangular) elements such that the element having a distance y from the bottom of the box has a height dy. Draw the trough, the water, and the element with the distance y.arrow_forward
- Q.1: The length of rectangular piece of paper exceeds its breadth by 5cm. If a strip of 0.5cm wide be cut all round the piece of paper, the area of the remaining part would be 500 square cms. Find its original dimensions.arrow_forward11. - 2. A cylindrical tank contains oil (use density as p in lb/ ft'). The radius of the tank is 3 feet, the length is 12 feet and oil enters and leaves the tank through an opening at the top. The tank is initially full of oil. Use the sketch below and complete each step below to find the work done in pumping all of the oil out of the opening at the top of the tank. You must use the axis provided. No calculators. (a) Find and expression for the volume of a single representative "slab" of oil that will move out of the tank. (b) Find the expression for the distance any single representative "slab" of oil must move to get out of the tank. (c) Find the expression for the force of a single representative "slab" of oil. (d) Set up (BUT DO NOT SOLVE), the Reimann sum that approximates the total work done in pumping all of the oil out of the tank.arrow_forwardSolve the following problems involving area of plane figures.arrow_forward
