Selection modes:
- There are two selection modes can be used to operate the “ListView” control.
- Single selection mode:
- Using this mode, user can select only one item from a list at a time.
- Multiple interval selection mode:
- Using this mode, user can select multiple items from a list.
- Multiple interval selection can be made in two ways and they are
- Consecutive selection:
- To select the items that are present in the consecutive order, click the item that is to be selected first and press “Shift” key to select the remaining items that are to be selected.
- Nonconsecutive selection:
- To select the items that are present in the nonconsecutive order, click the item that is to be selected first and press “Ctrl” key to select the required items that are to be selected.
- Consecutive selection:
- Single selection mode:
- User can modify the selection mode using the control’s “getSelectionModel().setSelectionMode()” method.
- This method accepts any one of the enum constants such as “SelectionMode.MULTIPLE” and “SelectionMode.SINGLE”.
Example:
The example for changing the selection mode is shown below:
exampleListView.getSelectionModel().setSelectionMode(SelectionMode.SINGLE);
Here,
- The “exampleListView” is a name of a “ListView” control.
- The code allows to select only single item from a “exampleListView”.
