Platelets: Normal Distribution Based on Data Set 1 in Appendix B, assume that adult females have blood platelet counts that are normally distributed with a mean of 280 and a standard deviation of 65. (All units arc in 1000 cells/μL.)

a. Find the probability that a randomly selected adult female has a platelet count greater than 345.
b. Find the probability that a randomly selected adult female has a platelet count between 215 and 345.
c. If 25 adult females arc randomly selected, find the probability that the mean of their platelet counts is less than 319.
d. Find the value of P₈₀, the 80th percentile.

Features Features Normal distribution is characterized by two parameters, mean (µ) and standard deviation (σ). When graphed, the mean represents the center of the bell curve and the graph is perfectly symmetric about the center. The mean, median, and mode are all equal for a normal distribution. The standard deviation measures the data's spread from the center. The higher the standard deviation, the more the data is spread out and the flatter the bell curve looks. Variance is another commonly used measure of the spread of the distribution and is equal to the square of the standard deviation.
