Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Blood is an integral part of our circulatory system made up of the cellular components (red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets) and the plasma. The main functions of the blood include the transport, protection and the regulation. It carries oxygen and nutrients to every cell in the body and in turn, carries back carbon dioxide and other waste products.

It also helps in the transport of the hormones to their target cells. The white blood cells are involved in rendering immunity to our body by fighting against the invading pathogens. The platelets are involved in the process of blood clotting; thus, preventing blood loss. Blood also regulates the pH, temperature and the water content in the cells.
