Interpretation:
The difference between a polar molecule and the one that undergoes hydrogen bonding is to be explained.
Concept Introduction:
Covalent bonds are formed by the sharing of electrons between the two atoms and can be classified as polar or nonpolar on the basis of the atoms connected by them. The overall polarity of a molecule is dependent on the structure of the molecule. If the dipoles cancel each other, the molecule is nonpolar.
Molecules that contain hydrogen atoms bonded to an electronegative element can undergo hydrogen bond formation. This bond is formed between a hydrogen atom and an atom of nitrogen, oxygen or fluorine etc.
