Concept introduction:
The ability of an atom to attract bonding electrons towards itself is called electronegativity. Two different atoms having a different value of electronegativity form polar bond. The distribution of bonding electron charge is unequal in polar bond because the electron density will be shifted towards more electronegative atom.
