Concept Introduction:

A particular rate at which reaction occurs is known as the rate of reaction. The reactants that collide in proper orientation form an activated complex, a high energy unstable species formed before the products, and gets transformed into products with time.

An increase in concentration of reactants increases the collisions number that are effective. A rise in temperature results in an increase in kinetic energy increase or velocity of the molecules which increases the fraction of effective collision.

The addition of catalyst changes the reaction pathway by decreasing the activation energy which helps in increasing the rate of reaction.
