To write:
If, all features of living organism arise from adoption and, if a trait in an organism is a product of natural selection by evolution.
Introduction:
Evolution may occur through several mechanisms like genetic drift, mutations and migration. In natural selection, the fittest organism is selected naturally. Natural selection is a process which results in adaptations of an organism to its environment through means of a selective reproduction of the changes in their genetic constitution or genotype. Natural selection is the key mechanism of evolution, which is the change in inherited traits or characteristics of a population over the generations. Adaptations are the changes or modifications in the body of the organism or behavior which aid in survival.

- What are two evolutionary explanations for why certain organisms might NOT blend into their environment (e.g. bright colors, loud songs , or stand out )? Why do you think evolution is sometimes seen at odds with religion ?arrow_forwardDo you think the human race is continuing to evolve in a Darwinian, genetic sense? Are the genes of our species changing? Do not just write "yes" or "no," but explain why you think so. In addition, include in your explanation of how the mechanisms of evolution, such as natural selection, would be at play.arrow_forwardNatural selection allows certain species to survive. The organisms that survive are those best adapted to their environment. Does natural selection make organisms more complex and perfect?arrow_forward
- If natural selection can only operate on existing variants, where does all that variation come from? If, as Darwin (1868) and Huxley concluded, variation arose from changes in development, then how could the development of an embryo change when development is so finely tuned and complex?arrow_forwardWhat are some of the ways that Darwin's theory of natural selection played out in human evolution? Can you see evidence of particular adaptations as our ancestors evolved, speciated, and in some cases went extinct?arrow_forwardWhat is the benefit of evolution to all organisms?arrow_forward
- The concept of evolution has always been connected with some notion of progress–natural selection pushing populations toward better and better adaptations to create "perfect organisms." How would you argue that evolution does not craft perfect organisms?arrow_forwardWhat characteristics make a particular kind of individual successful in the process of natural selection?arrow_forwardOne of the lines of evidence that led Darwin to the theory of natural selection was his study of artificial selection. Plant breeders and pigeon breeders select offspring with specific traits in mind beforehand. a) However, since humans are an integral part of the natural world, do you think that artificial selection might be more appropriately termed “natural selection”? Why?arrow_forward
