About 472 years ago, the first land plants appeared as patches of low growing green stems at the water's edge. They had no roots, leaves and flowers and vascular system. These structures have been developed at the time of evolution. These first land plants not only set the stage for the tremendous diversity of plant life but also paved the way for the evolution and diversification of land animals.
