To trace:
A sensory impulse from a taste receptor to the cerebral cortex.
Introduction:
The sensory receptors are present in the anterior, posterior and the lower base of the tongue. The impulses from receptors in anterior region reach the facial nerve. The receptors from posterior region reach the impulses in glossopharyngeal nerve and the impulses from lower base region of the tongue send impulses to the vagus nerve. The impulses reach the medulla oblongata, thalamus and finally to the cerebrum.
