Concept explainers
To describe the possible biases in this sample.
Explanation of Solution
In the question it is given that some people have been complaining that the children’s playground at a municipal park is too small and is in need to repair. Mangers of the park decided to survey city residents to see if the bile the playground should be rebuilt. Thus, they hand out the questionnaire to the parents. Thus, we can see that this is convenience sampling and could lead to response bias. The parents who bring their children to the park would most likely support rebuilding the park whereas the parents who do not bring their children to the park would not be sampled and not be included in the sampling. The sample method is not representative of the entire population.
