Concept explainers
To explain: The difference between a one-way ANOVA and a two-way ANOVA.

Explanation of Solution
The analysis of variance known as ANOVA is used when there are two or more groups and it compares the variances with respect to the means of different groups.
The one-way ANOVA uses only one independent variable in the study, whereas, the two-way ANOVA has two independent variables involved in the study. One-way ANOVA is used to verify the equality of means among 3 or more groups. On other hand, two-way ANOVA also tells us about the association between independent variables and their effects on a dependent variable.
The examples of one-way ANOVA and a two-way ANOVA are provided below:
A study of average points scored by professional athletes in an NBA season and the four brands of shoes they use. Here, there are four groups, one for each brand and here one-way ANOVA is used since there is only one independent variable in the study.
A study of average points scored by professional athletes in an NBA season, the age of players, and the four brands of shoes they use are done Here, there are four groups, one for each brand, and two-way ANOVA is used since there are two independent variables in the study.

- Please help me with this statistics questionarrow_forwardPlease help me with the following statistic questionarrow_forwardTo evaluate the success of a 1-year experimental program designed to increase the mathematical achievement of underprivileged high school seniors, a random sample of participants in the program will be selected and their mathematics scores will be compared with the previous year’s statewide average of 525 for underprivileged seniors. The researchers want to determine whether the experimental program has increased the mean achievement level over the previous year’s statewide average. If alpha=.05, what sample size is needed to have a probability of Type II error of at most .025 if the actual mean is increased to 550? From previous results, sigma=80.arrow_forward
