Concept introduction:

Bacterial capsule provides adhesion of the bacterium into the host’s cell and invading the defense system of the host. Bacterial capsule increases the virulence of bacteria. Bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoans produce virulence factor, which increases the effectiveness of pathogens to cause disease. Microbes cause tissue damage to the host by the action of toxins or enzymes, such as both exotoxins and endotoxins.
