Introduction:

Blood-brain barrier is a tight barrier of endothelial cells in the walls of blood capillaries of brain that prevents the passage of bacteria, viruses and other harmful chemicals from entering the brain. Small, uncharged molecules like oxygen and carbon dioxide, fat-soluble molecules like vitamins A and D, drugs used in the treatment of brain disorders like depression, and illegal drugs like heroin, easily cross the blood-brain barrier.
