a. You want to test whether an association exists between two categorical variables. For

example, you want to test whether there is an association between belief in global warming

and political party affiliation.

b. You want to test whether the sample mean of a numerical variable is different from a known

population mean. For example, The New York Times reported that the average Broadway

show ticket was $\text{ \$109}$ in 2017. You take a recent random sample of 30 Broadway show ticket

prices and want to determine if the mean price of a Broadway show ticket has changed from

2017.
