Introduction:

Axon is a thin fiber of equal diameter. Axon is useful for transmission of impulses to other neurons, an organ or a muscle.

Axons can be classified into afferent, efferent and intrinsic. Afferent axon carries information to a structure, Efferent axon carries information away from a structure. If a neuron has its dendrites and axon entirely in a single structure, it is called an intrinsic neuron.
