Importance of B2C electronic commerce in China:

China being the most populous country in the world and also one of the countries that focuses a lot on technology gives a lot of importance of Business to Customer e-commerce. This is because:

  • China have different payment methods which offer the customers a number of free functions such as buying bus tickets, topping up mobile credit and paying for products in-store. Some of the examples are “Alipay” and “TenPay”, which offer payment gateway solutions that provide smooth and secure online transactions, directly linked to users' bank accounts.
  • ICP: The Internet Control Protocol works along with the Chinese “great firewall of China” to enforce China's protective internet laws.
  • With the huge population, online may be the only place, shoppers (outside of the biggest cities) can buy certain, non-Chinese brand products which will increase the revenues.
  • In China there is a centralization of e-commerce website as most of the retailers big and small operate as storefronts on Alibaba’s “Tmall.com” (business-to-consumer site).
  • One of the biggest factors is standardized, single account transaction process across virtually all retailers which generate huge revenue.
