Explanation of Solution

A process is an activity that receives inputs and transforms them into outputs by adding value during the transformation period. It is a series of steps taken to achieve a particular end result.

University:

The inputs could be books, printed hard-copy material, other stationary suppliers, and the students studying the college. The transformation process would be education and training activities. The output will be the educated graduates leaving the university after completing the course.

Grocery store:

The inputs could be shelf-stable food, perishable and frozen foods, grocery bags, promotions and advertisement, and the shoppers involved in the shopping process. The transformation is the exchange of cash for the purchased goods. The output can be satisfied shoppers leaving the grocery store.

Brewery:

The inputs are the grain, water, hops, yeast used for making beer and the bottles, cans and other packaging material. The transformation process is the conversion of raw materials where the ingredients are converted into beer. The output is the beer filled bottles and cans exiting the assembly line and ready for sale.
