Answer to Problem 1CRQ

The evolution of the human resources management has taken place in four wave's which are HR administration, HR practices, HR strategy, and HR outside in.

Explanation of Solution

The four waves are explained as below:

  • In HR administration, the emphasis lies in the HR personnel's administrative work such as regulatory compliance, delivery of HR services, terms and condition of work. Now a day's HR administration is taken care by outsourcing solutions and technology.
  • In HR practices, the emphasis lies on designing innovative areas such as sourcing, communication, learning and compensation. Under this, the HR professionals started interacting and sharing their view with one another to establish a consistent approach with respect to HRM.
  • In HR strategy, the emphasis lies on the integration of the human resources strategy with the strategy of the business. Under this, the HR professional started analyzing the strategy of the business to identify the priorities of HR that requires attention and how to make best utilization of available resources.
  • In HR Outside in, human resource began to have active participation in the business and became a partner in the business. However, it becomes more of a competitive practice to respond to the conditions that are external to the business. HR has now to look towards communities, investor and customer that are outside of their organization in order to define success through community reputation, investor confidence and customer share.
