Chapter 11, Problem 11WIO
Summary Introduction

To determine:

The ethical issues of gene doping with examples and its impact on the future of sports.

Introduction:

Gene doping is the process of modification of genes in the DNA to enhance the function of a healthy person. In this technique, there is an introduction of new genes into the existing cells and protein encoded by those genes is used to change the function of cells. Gene doping is of two types: somatic cell modification, where genes are modified in a bodily cell, and the changes do not pass on to children and germline modification where genes are changed in a father’s sperm, mother’s eggs or in an embryo.
