 Introduction:

Lateral inhibition refers to the process by which central sensory receptors in the body respond more strongly to stimuli inhibiting responses of neighboring receptors. These are used by sensory receptors in the eyes, the ears, the nose and the central nervous system(CNS). It helps the body to improve the perception in relation to environmental stimuli.
