Explanation of Solution
The perspective changes in light of recent incidents and the responsibilities of multinational enterprise:
Multinational enterprises look for cost locations which are lower, to perform their manufacturing locations offshore. They have to analyze the trade-off increasing the cost structure against the promotion of the image of the brand and the goodwill in the foreign markets. The cost advantages of this approach are transient in nature and then to change according to the changing economic conditions. The manufacturing process will grow leading to the demand for more manufacturing labor which in turn will lead to more wages. This will erode the advantages in a slow and steady manner.
The offshoring of jobs should also consider the safety of the work environment present in these offshore locations. The recent accidents in the textile factories pose a question mark on the importance firms are giving to the safety the labor present in these locations. This has called for the deeper control of the supply chain process to ensure that such incidents do not happen in the future. They must give equal importance to the work conditions as well as the benefits of the form.
