Answer to Problem 1GST

The shallow depths or near-surface areas are the environment within the Earth in which the rocks to experience ductile deformation and the brittle rather than ductile deformation could be seen in the areas of deeper depths in the Earth’s crust.

Explanation of Solution

A rock body undergoes various geological processes during a long span of geologic time. The physical changes that occur in a rock body are collectively called as deformation.

Brittle deformation happens when a rock body exceeds its strength to deform elastically, and it breaks into small pieces like glass objects, ceramic plates. It mainly occurs when a material loses its ability to hold together due to the breakage of chemical bonds by stress.

Ductile deformation happens when a rock body or any material changes their shape without any breakage or fracture. Clayey materials are deformed in a ductile manner. Ductile deformation enables the materials to remain in solid state; folds are the examples of ductile deformation.

The brittle deformation normally occurs at shallow depths and the ductile deformation occurs at greater depths. The four factors that influence the deformation of rocks are temperature, confining pressure, rock type and time.

In this course, we examine how social, economic, political and cultural processes transform relationships between people and the spaces they inhabit. Globalization is one of the key processes shaping human geographies in the 21st century. Although globalization operates at a planetary scale, its effects are felt in the spaces and routines of daily life. For this assignment, you are asked you to observe and analyze how globalization manifests in your own everyday experiences. Objectives • • Apply core geographic concepts of place, space and scale • Identify concrete examples of how global processes shape local contexts • Develop skills in observation and analysis Instructions 1. Choose two aspects of daily life from the following list that you will use to explore the influences of globalization: ○ Material goods - commodities, food ○ Media & entertainment о Technology & communication о Social connections and relationships O Linguistic or cultural landscapes 2. For each aspect, identify…

Write an opening statement and a brief background for this discussion: efforts should be made to create distance and separate crops that produce pollutants such as ecoli (i.e. animal farming) from crops that don’t (i.e. lettuce) to protect these latter crops despite the extra costs and logistical challenges.
