The neuron that brings the impulse to the synapse and the neuron on the other side of the neuron which is stimulated or inhibited as result of the synaptic transmission.
Introduction:
A neuron is a structural and functional unit of the nervous system. The neuron body consists of a nucleus, dendrite:which receives signals from the afferent neuron, and axon:which conduct nerve impulses.
The axon has a small swelling at their end which is called axon terminal. This terminal lies very close to the dendrite of next neuron. This close proximity of each neuron is called synapse and the small gap between the synapses is called synaptic cleft. Synaptic transmission is a process of neuron communication.
