Summary Introduction

To explain: The view of an individual on whether the companies should be able to patent gene and genes product or not. Also to explain the purpose of patent, how the discoverer of a gene benefit from the patent, how the public might get benefit from the patent, and what negative effects might result from patenting genes.

Introduction: The DNA segments have some genes which are responsible for the coding of specific proteins. Every gene possesses unique response. Any mutation in the gene could result in a change of response of gene which could cause a disease or genetic disorder. By studying various genes, the researcher gain information about the gene and gene products that could prevent the disorder and provide benefits to the mankind.

The patent of genes and gene product involves gaining the sole right on unique segments of DNA that might help in providing the information for certain disease or protein by the lead researcher or a company.
