Blood is made up of the fluid connective tissue. Blood is the only fluid tissue of the body. It is composed of the living cells and the non-living matrix. The living cells are also called the formed elements and the non-living matrix is called the plasma. The blood performs the function of the transport of various respiratory gases, hormones, vitamins, fatty acids. Blood also aids in the removal of the toxic compounds from the body of an organism.
