Blood is a type of the connective tissue. It is the only tissue which is present in the form of fluid in the body. Blood is composed of both liquid and solid components. The blood is composed of the living blood cells and the nonliving fluid. The living blood cells are called the formed elements and the non-living matrix of the fluid is called the plasma. The formed elements are suspended within the matrix of the non-living fluid.
